What a night!!!

Saturday's "Night of the Living La La's" at the Latonia was a resounding success! It is what ending bigotry in Venango County looks like. There were nearly as many straight people as gay at this event. Everyone mingled, networked, laughed and enjoyed the companionship of good fun loving people. And, as expected, folks came from everywhere - Clarion, Erie, Pittsburgh and beyond.
The costumes were fabulous ranging from artistic to scary to funny. We poked a bit of fun at ourselves, and those who fear lesbians, as a group of us hammed it up with the old Meg Christian tune "Leaping Lesbians".
As many of us talked throughout the evening (and well into the night) we concluded that those fighting against our civil rights have made us stronger. We are more outspoken, more determined, more active, and working harder than ever before to build bridges within our communities and beyond. Every letter to the editor or letter writing campaign brings us together with new hope as it becomes more clear to the general population that these efforts are nothing more than fundraising strategies based on ignorance. Fewer and fewer people are fooled.
