A Glimpse of the Unfiltered Mind of the Anti-Gay Extremist

North Carolina Pastor Calls For Death of 'Queers & Homosexuals'

This sad little man, Pastor Charles L. Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, N.C., just happened to be caught on tape saying what "family values" activists, and all those who have been infected by anti-gay "religious" extremists, have been saying in one form or another for years, and years, and years, and years, causing unquantifiable harm to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their families, friends, and allies in communities across the country and around the world.

I came across your blog and this clip by accident, really, while searching for something else. I want to tell you that I admire the tremendous courage that it took for you to speak to this group of people. I cannot fathom how you were able to remain composed in the face of so much ugliness. My stepdaughter lives in Oil City and, rather unfortunately, has assimilated many of the popular views of the area. When she visits her father and I in a more culturally diverse area, we are often shocked and saddened by the views she expresses. We are further saddened when we realize that she is at such a disadvantage for her future, where her intolerance will certainly limit her success in the workplace. We try, of course, to talk with her about these things... but she spends so much more time in Oil City. It has been a struggle. So I tip my hat to you, sir, for fighting the good fight. You have quite a substantive inner strength...

Thx for the note Shawna. There are lots of great folks in Venango County too, working to make it a more welcoming place for all. Here's hoping your daughter feels a little of their love too!

Wishing you and your family all good things.
