Celebrate GLBTQA Month at Edinboro University
"But I'm A Cheerleader," October 7, 20, and 21 2008 at 8pm. Pouge Student Center Theatre. Sponsored by the Multicultural Programs Office. A naive teenager is sent to "gay rehabilitation" camp when her strait-laced parents and friends suspect her of being a lesbian. It is a hilarious, irreverent,and timely satire.
Live Homosexual Acts, October 8, 2008 11am-5pm. Baron-Forness Library 2nd Floor. Sponsored by Identity. Members of Identity and other allies will demonstrate what they do on a daily basis on campus. This is a demonstration that raises awareness about the GLBTQA community.
GLBTA Lecture Series: Dr. Rhonda Matthews, Department of Sociology. October 9, 2008 12:30-1:30pm. 303B Pouge Student Center. Sponsored by the GLBTA Commission. Dr. Matthews's presentation on "The Next Social Movement."
Coming Out Day Information Table, October 10, 2008 11am-3pm. Van Houten. Sponsored by Identity. The information tables will provide a definition of "coming out" and will have other information about the process of coming out.
Coming Out Day Social, October, 11, 2008 4-6pm. 143 Zahorchak Seminar Room Pouge Student Center. Sponsored by Multicultural Programs Office and Identity. This social will provide individuals with the opportunity to share their coming out experiences. The social will provide a comfortable and safe environment for someone who may want to have a coming out experience.
GLBTA Discussion Panel, October 13, 2008 4-5:15pm. Wiley 106. Sponsored by the Multicultural Programs Office. The discussion panel will consist of faculty and community leaders that will discuss social issues that affect the GLBTQA community. Topics will include a discussion about the "don't ask/don't tell" policy and religion and homosexuality.
GLBTA Lecture Series: Dr. James Fisher, Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice, October 23, 2008 12:30-1:30pm. 143 Zahorchak Seminar Room Pouge Student Center. Sponsored by the GLBTA Commission. Dr. Fisher presentation on "GLBT Issues and the Law."
"Hallow-Queen" Party, October 30, 2008 7-10:30pm. Pouge Student Center Multipurpose Room. Sponsored by Identity. It is a costume party and celebration of the conclusion of GLBTQA month.

GLBTA Lecture Series: November 11, 2008 4-5:00pm Dr. Jerra Jenrette, Department of History and Anthropology, will present, "Tuesday Morning," a program that focuses on the life and death of Mark Bingham and his exclusion of his name of his name from news programs that focused on other heroes of flight 93 during September 11, 2001.
