Education + Organization + Legislation = Change

The Civil Rights Front is a newly founded grassroots organization committed to promoting LGBTQ equality. We will do this by educating people about the challenges we face; organizing our community and allies; and encouraging our government to change discriminatory legislation. If all Americans are to have full and equal citizenship, we must repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, pass the Employment Non Discrimination Act, amend the Fair Housing Act, and make considerable revisions to policies regarding adoption and LGBTQ members in the U.S. Armed Forces.

We hope to bring LGBTQ organizations, leaders, supporters, and community members together to ensure that a strong and unified voice is heard. We have a lot of work to do, and we can't do it alone. Please join us.

The Civil Rights Front's first campaign is something we could apply to our own political leaders right here in Oil City, Franklin, Venango County, and Pennsylvania.

Just substitute your thoughts on what would make life better for LGBTQ and all residents of the area on post cards to our local public servants.

Project Postcard

THIS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER! CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT WHY.

President-elect Barack Obama has made a lot of promises to the LGBTQ community. We have to make sure he follows through. What better way to do it than to send him a friendly little reminder? Here's what you do...

BUY A POSTCARD - It would be great if it had the name of your city or state on it, but feel free to get creative. Make your own, use one that you have around the house, or grab a free one at your local restaurant. Heck, why not get a bunch of different ones? The more, the better.

ADDRESS IT - A handwritten card is always best, but feel free to print out labels if you're going to send multiple cards. Here's the address...

President-elect Barack Obama
Presidential Transition Office
Kluczynski Federal Building
230 S. Dearborn St., 38th Floor
Chicago, IL 60604

WRITE A MESSAGE - A unified message would be ideal. Let's keep it focused. I recommend something like this...

Dear President-elect Obama,

Please ask Congress to repeal D.O.M.A. and 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell.' Thank you in advance for advocating for the civil rights of your LGBT citizens.

SIGN YOUR NAME - There is nothing more powerful than that.

BUY POSTAGE AND DROP YOUR POSTCARD(S) IN THE MAIL - Wasn't that easy?

NOW, REPEAT - Send one a week. Or better yet, one a day. Have a postcard party and have all your friends do it too. Email these instructions to your loved ones so they can join in the fun. Think of the statement that thousands and thousands of postcards from around the country will make.

Our friends at Join the Impact have started a great album. If you'd like to submit a photo of you and your postcard, click here.
